Don't Wait for Lightning to Strike!
Don’t Wait for Lightning to Strike!
You may have heard about the thirty-one year old, Casey Wagoner, that was struck by lightning (in Saint Jo, TX) not once but twice! He was standing under a tree as the storm came through. When he was struck, he dropped to his knees and was then struck again! Amazingly, he seems to be doing well.
During the interview with Casey, he told the reporter, “I plan to go to church more.” I think that would do it for me too!
However, it should be noted that God does not promise any such wakeup call. Casey, in fact, is extremely fortunate to be alive.
Isn’t it a shame that so many are waiting for a wakeup call? What about you? How would it change your life if you were the one who was struck twice by lightning? Think about that for a minute.
Would it change your relationship with your spouse or your children? Would it change your attitudes and conduct? Would it change your morality in any way? Would it change your worship habits and your devotion to God?
Our challenge is to make the changes we need to before the lightning strikes. Remember that: “Today is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 6:2). Remember also that life is like “a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes” (James 4:14).
Don’t wait for lightning to strike! The time to truly live for God is now!
